I am a fellow of both the Australian and British Royal Colleges of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists with 20 years of experience as a qualified specialist in obstetrics, IVF and gynaecology. Apart from providing expert care, I do my best to be both a good listener and a good communicator.
I have delivered over four thousand babies since commencing private practice in Sydney. This includes naturally conceived babies and those conceived with the help of fertility treatments such as IVF and minimally invasive procedures under my care. In both cases, I enjoy taking couples through the birth experience generally and consider it a great privilege to be involved in such a wonderful event. Continuity of care is important and I do not engage in the common practice of rotating weekend cover.David Shelley-Jones
IVF (and PGD)
IVF (and PGD) takes place at Genea (formerly Sydney IVF). I have been a consultant with Genea for two decades and have built up great experience in dealing with a variety of infertility problems including polycystic ovaries, endometriosis, fibroids, age related subfertility, recurrent miscarriage and male factor infertility.
Obstetric practice is about experience and availability. I therefore focus on one excellent, central hospital and cap my delivery numbers to ensure a personal and caring service. Early booking is recommended as some months book out quickly. My practice manager, Sarah, is happy to discuss fees in relation to individual situations.
My training in gynaecology is extensive. Gynaecological procedures, if needed, take place at the Mater Hospital (North Sydney) and Genea Day Surgery Unit (CBD). I have previously held a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery, presenting papers in England, Germany and the United States.
